The Standard Insurance Excess for drivers over 21 who have held their license for over 24 months is NZ$1750

Drivers over 25 who have held their full license for more than 24 months can opt for an Insurance Excess Reduction. This option reduces the excess to $250. There is an additional charge of $10inc gst per day for this option on car or van hire, or NZ$20 per day for truck hire.

Drivers under 21: An Insurance Excess of $4000+GST applies for all drivers under 21 years of age. Insurance excess waivers or reductions do not apply.

Drivers who have held their full license for less than 24 Months: An additional $1000+GST excess applies. Insurance excess waivers or reductions do not apply.

An optional Windscreen Excess Waiver is available at $5inc gst per day, which reduces your windscreen excess to zero.
